Great retinal care extends beyond treatment. It requires evidence that informs practice, education that builds understanding, research that advances knowledge, and compassion that guides every patient journey.

Retina Consultants of Hamilton

What we do

Three pillars. One purpose.

As an academic organization, RCH works to improve retinal care by supporting research and innovation, translating new evidence into practice, and working alongside a clinical program built around evidence-informed care.

Clinical programs

Precision Retina Care, the associated clinical program, provides evidence-informed care for neovascular (wet) AMD, diabetic macular edema and retinal vein occlusion.

Research and innovation

Supporting clinically meaningful research and innovation, undertaken through affiliated institutions and approved research programs.

Knowledge translation

Synthesizing emerging evidence and developing educational resources so that new knowledge reaches everyday clinical practice.

Precision Retina Care

The clinical program associated with RCH.

Precision Retina Care (PRC) provides evidence-informed, rapid-access assessment for three retinal conditions where timely specialist evaluation may be particularly important.

nAMD

Wet AMD

Assessment of new or changing neovascular activity at the macula in neovascular age-related macular degeneration.

DME

Diabetic macular edema

Evaluation of macular thickening related to diabetic retinopathy.

RVO

Retinal vein occlusion

Review of venous occlusive disease and its effect on the macula.

Through close integration with the academic activities of RCH, PRC supports the thoughtful application of current evidence to patient care while maintaining distinct academic and clinical roles. Illustrations are schematic renderings for general education, not patient images.
