Advancing the Future of Macular Care

Precision Retina Care (PRC) provides specialized clinical care for patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (Wet AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME) and retinal vein occlusion (RVO).

Through Retina Consultants of Hamilton (RCH), this clinical care is supported by research, education, and knowledge translation to help advance retina care.

Program Overview

This work is led by Dr. Varun Chaudhary, MD, FRCSC, a vitreoretinal surgeon and clinician-researcher whose clinical and research programs focus on advancing retinal care.

Patients receiving care through Precision Retina Care (PRC) may also have opportunities to learn about research studies for which they may be eligible. Participation in research is always voluntary and is discussed only when appropriate.

focused care when timely assessment matters

Supporting Patients Across Hamilton and Surrounding Communities

Wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO) are retinal conditions in which timely assessment can be important.

Precision Retina Care (PRC) provides a focused clinical service for patients from Hamilton and surrounding communities who are referred for assessment of these conditions.

PRC uses a dedicated referral pathways (accessible by your eye doctor) designed to facilitate timely assessment and coordinate care for eligible patients.  Referrals are reviewed based on the clinical information provided and clinical urgency.

Our research priorities

How Research Supports Patient Care

Studying how treatments for wet age-related macular degeneration (Wet AMD), diabetic macular edema (DME), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO) perform in everyday clinical practice to improve understanding of long-term care.

Reviewing and translating emerging research to support evidence-informed clinical practice and provide educational resources for patients and eye care professionals.

Exploring how advanced retinal imaging, artificial intelligence, and data science may support research and clinical decision-making in retinal disease.
